The Direzione Generale Cinema e Audiovisivo is a structure of the Ministry of Culture (MiC) which is responsible for promoting the development and diffusion of Italian cinema and the national cinematographic and audiovisual industry. To carry out these tasks, the General Management makes use of the work of specific consultative bodies, provided for by sector legislation, uses the sums of the "Fund for the development of investments in Cinema and Audiovisual" provided for by the new Italian Law for Cinema of 14 November 2016, n. 220, containing “ Discipline of cinema and audiovisual”, whose provisions, with the exception of articles 33, 34, 35, 36 and 37, apply from 1 January 2017 and in implementation of articles 9, 21 and 33 of the Constitution, the Italian Republic recognizes Cinema and Audiovisual as a fundamental means of artistic expression, cultural education and social communication
