BFC Dynamo is a German football club based in the locality of Alt-Hohenschönhausen of the borough of Lichtenberg of Berlin. The club was founded on January 15, 1966, from the football department of SC Dynamo Berlin and is one of the most successful football clubs in East Germany, with 10 consecutive league championships from 1979 to 1988. Since its promotion in the 2013/14 season, BFC has played in the fourth-tier Regionalliga Nordost. The first team plays its home games at the Sportforum Hohenschönhausen.
The club is associated with the Sportvereinigung Dynamo Berlin, which in East Germany stood for the East German Ministry for State Security (MfS). BFC Dynamo was therefore also referred to as the "Stasi club". The club was led in East Germany by Erich Mielke, the head of the MfS.
BFC Dynamo is a popular club in Berlin, especially in the former East Berlin districts. The club has a loyal fan base that supports the club even after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
