The AZ lettering is the official logo of the automobile manufacturer Audi AG. It was designed in 1928 by the German graphic designer Franz Xaver Reimer. The lettering consists of the letters “A” and “Z” intertwined. The letters are in a sans serif font known for its clean and modern look.
The AZ lettering was originally used as the logo for Auto Union AG, which was formed in 1932 from the merger of Audi, Horch, DKW and Wanderer. After World War II, Auto Union AG was split into four separate companies, including Audi. However, the AZ lettering remained as the logo for Audi.
