VfL Stade
VfL Stade is a sports club in the Lower Saxony Hanseatic city of Stade. The men's first football team played for two years in the then third rate Oberliga Nord. The first women's handball team played several times in the 3rd division. The entire club with 19 specialist sports departments has 5,120 members (as of January 1, 2018).
On July 15, 1850, the men's gymnastics club 1850 Stade was founded. This club merged on September 14, 1923 with the gymnastics club Jahn 1899 Stade to form the Turnerbund 1850 Stade . In the same year, some former members of the football department of TV Jahn resigned and merged with Stader Sportclub 1909 to form Stader Sportverein . A short time later, the footballers of MTV Stade joined Stader SV as part of theclean divorce , which from then on was called Stader Sports Club 1923 . Finally, on September 20, 1945, this club merged with TB 1850 Stade to form today's VfL Stade. On July 1, 2016,theTuS Güldenstern Stadeand JFV Stade with VfL Stade. The members of TuS Güldenstern and JFV joined VfL Stade. Since then, the football department has played under the name VfL Güldenstern Stade, while the other departments appear as VfL Stade
