VfL Reken
The VfL Reken (full name: Club for Physical Exercises Reken 1949 eV ) was a football club from Reken. The club's first team played between 1984 and 1988 in the then third rate Oberliga Westfalen.
The VfL Reken was founded on September 16, 1949. Until well into the 1970s, the club was only active at the local level before the first team was on the way up within a few years . After promotion to the Landesliga in 1979, the team made it through to theVerbandsligain the following 1979/80 season . Promotion to the Oberliga Westfalen followed four years later. In the1986/87 season,the best placement was achieved with tenth place beforea year laterthe descent followed as penultimate. It was the first of three relegations in a row that led the team to the district league in 1990. In the 1998/99 season, the Rekener returned to the state league, but otherwise commuted between the district league and district league A. In 2012 , they were promoted to the district league.
