Miko is a French ice cream brand founded by a Spanish businessman, Luis Ortiz , in 1945. Its image was used in Spain at the end of the 1970s by a group of Basque businessmen, who formed a company with the same name and on which the French group held a stake until 1988, when it became independent from the original company.

In France, the multinational Unilever took over the rights to the brand in 1994 and continues to use it for its line of Heartbrand ice creams . In Spain, it remained as an independent brand until in 1995 it was sold to the Nestlé group , which integrated all its brands under the company Helados Nestlé .
