Makkabi Germany is the Jewish gymnastics and sports association in Germany. In 1898 the first Jewish gymnastics and sports club Bar Kochba was founded in Berlin. Makkabi Germany was founded in 1903 by German-Jewish sports clubs as an umbrella organization . He was a founding member of the Maccabi World Union , formed in 1921 as the world sports federation of Jewish athletes. After the National Socialists came to power , Makkabi Germany and its member clubs were excluded from German sport and could only compete with each other.
