Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is a racing circuit located near Francorchamps in the province of Liège, Belgium . It annually hosts the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix and the Spa 24 Hours endurance race , as well as other national and international races.
It is one of the circuits preferred by pilots because of the variety of its layout in the mountainous landscape of the Belgian Ardennes which allows pilots to showcase their talent 1 , 2 , 3 . It is sometimes nicknamed the "toboggan of the Ardennes" 4 .
Although the name of the nearby town of Spa is associated with it, no part of the circuit is located on its territory 4 . The circuit is on the outskirts of the village of Francorchamps in the commune of Stavelot with incursions into the territory of the commune of Malmedy , in the east of the Ardennes .
